Some watch brands follow things like Formula 1 and other types of motor sports racings that people in the US don’t really pay attention to. But Tissot‘s aim is to be associated with the racing circuit in America.
The horology house of Tissot has been partnered with NASCAR, showing itself quite interested in racing events that Americans might actually be watching. Of course this is not only the mere desire to keep fit. In watch world it is rather profitability. In another words “to be associated with popular sport, is to enjoy increased sales.”
So for this year motorcycle race Tissot presents it’s newest version of the Tissot T-Race Nicky Hayden 2010 Limited edition of 4999 pieces.
Nicky Hayden is an American motorcycle star. He is a young racer lately doing the MotoGP circuit. His lucky number is “69” that’s why the star logo will be placed on the caseback of the watch, and red and black are “his colors” (especially red).
The late T-Race Nicky Hayden 2010 is a piece that really shows how the T-Race matures. I’ve heard Tissot is going to redo the design. But before the redesign this is their base stock watch for its motor sports limited edition pieces. The case bezel and crown guard is made to resemble a brake disc and rotor. The bezel rotates and indicates the GMT time when set properly. While the “unique looking” case is actually quite comfortable on the wrist.
The steel case has two tones with a black segment for the bezel structure and the moving with hinged lugs that allow the watch to be more comfortable. The symbolic red strap is silicone, not rubber however. Some discomfort brings silicone’s tendency to get dirty. Although it could be easily washed with soap and water. Of course the Tissot T-Race Nicky Hayden 2010 Limited edition has a water resistance enough to be washed.
Size: 45.3 mm
Case material: Stainless steel
Movement: Swiss ETA quartz chronograph
Battery life: 36 months
Functions: Date/GTM function via rotating bezel
Dial color: Black/white
Bracelet: Red silicone
Water resistance: 100 metres
The Tissot T-Race Nicky Hayden watch comes in a cool motorcycle helmet style box. Great watch you just can’t take your eyes of. Price for the watch is 590 € in Europe. But I am almost sure the US price will be less.
